Corn/Maize

Corn/maize is at risk for the presence of mycotoxins such as aflatoxin, vomitoxin (DON), fumonisin, zearalenone and ochratoxin. Global regulations set limits for maximum allowable levels of mycotoxins in maize as low as 2 parts per billion (ppb) for aflatoxin B1, 750 ppb deoxynivalenol (DON), 200 ppb fumonisin, 3 ppb ochratoxin A and 60 ppb of zearalenone. Aflatoxin B1, B2, G1, G2

Highly toxic chemical byproducts of Aspergillus molds which are known to cause cancer in humans.

Deoxynivalenol

Toxin produced by Fusarium molds which causes livestock feed refusal, vomiting and interferes with growth and development.

Fumonisins B1, B2, B3

Toxic chemical metabolite of Fusarium molds which causes equine leukoencephalomalacia and has been linked to human esophageal cancer.

Ochratoxin A

Toxic byproduct of Aspergillus and Penicillium molds which is a suspect carcinogen and causes serious disease in humans and animals.

T-2/HT-2

Toxic chemical metabolite of Fusarium molds which inhibits DNA and protein synthesis, resulting in severe diseases of the airway, skin and stomach.

Zearalenone

Estrogenic toxin produced by Fusarium molds which disrupts livestock growth and reproduction resulting in significant production losses.
